What is Addy.io?

Addy.io is an anonymous email forwarding service. You give each website its own alias, and mail sent to it is forwarded to the inbox you already use. You pick a username and get your own subdomain (for example johndoe.anonaddy.com). Any address on that subdomain works on the spot, and you can switch an alias off in one click when it starts getting spam.

Paid plans let you reply and send from aliases, bring your own domains, forward to several inboxes and strip tracking pixels. Other features include GPG/OpenPGP encryption of forwarded mail, rules, a blocklist, labels, webhooks and a developer API. There are apps for iOS and Android, extensions for Chrome and Firefox, and Bitwarden integration.

The free plan includes unlimited standard aliases, and paid plans start at $1/month. Addy.io is open source and can be self-hosted. It is run by an independent developer in the UK, and it suits privacy-minded people who want to limit spam and tracking from data breaches.

Signing up for online shops

Give each store its own alias so a breach only exposes that one address.

Finding who sold your address

Spam arrives at a site-specific alias, so you can see the source and switch that alias off.

Replying without revealing your inbox

On Lite and Pro you can reply from the alias, and your real address stays hidden.

Self-hosting email aliases

Run the open-source code on your own server with your own domains.
