What is Tuta?
Tuta (formerly Tutanota) is an encrypted email, calendar and contacts service. It encrypts mailbox data end-to-end with post-quantum cryptography, and its zero-knowledge architecture means Tuta itself cannot read your mailbox. Data is stored on Tuta's own servers in ISO 27001 certified data centers in Germany, under GDPR.
Emails between Tuta users are encrypted automatically. To send an encrypted message to someone outside Tuta, you use a shared password. The calendar and address book are also fully encrypted, and push reminders work without Google services, even on Android. All clients are open source. There are apps for Android (including an APK on GitHub), iOS, Windows, macOS, Linux and the browser.
A free plan with 1 GB of storage is promised as free forever. The paid Revolutionary and Legend plans add more storage, custom domains, alias addresses, catch-all, offline support and multi-user setups. Tuta is aimed at individuals, businesses, medical practices, journalists and activists.
