What is Mailfence?
Mailfence is an encrypted email service based in Belgium. Encryption happens in your browser, and the service works with any other OpenPGP service. You can send digitally signed messages and create, import, publish and manage OpenPGP keys from a built-in keystore, with nothing to install.
Next to email, the suite includes calendars, document storage with online editing and sharing, and contact groups. You can use it on the web, through the iOS and Android apps or as a PWA. Paid plans add POP, IMAP, SMTP and ActiveSync access, aliases, custom domains with DKIM, SPF and DMARC, and user management.
Mailfence says it has no ads or trackers, and that under Belgian law only a local judge with a court order can request user data. There is a free 1 GB plan, plus paid tiers from Base to Ultra. It suits individuals and businesses who want private email that still works with standard protocols.
